What Are the Five Straight As and Two Es for College Success?
- Awareness: Students truly understand what college is and what it means to “go to college.”
- Academic Achievement: Students take and pass rigorous courses.
- Access: Students take the appropriate steps necessary to apply and enroll in the college of their choice.
- Affordability: Students apply for and are awarded all federal and state grants for which they are eligible.
- Attainment: Students remain enrolled and persist in their education until they earn a degree or certificate.
Concurrent with aspiring to and working towards the five Straight As above, college success also depends on Engagement – how students view the future, and Encouragement – how students are supported.
